The V3 Master Grower LED light from GoGrow has superb PAR values. Once we discuss these, we could just stop the review and tell you to buy it, because it’s worth it. Just take a look at these specs:
- Height 8” Footprint 2 x 2’ PAR 2890umol
- Height 16” Footprint 3 x 3’ PAR 1750umol
- Height 24” Footprint 4 x 4’ PAR 1113umol (suggested hanging height for bloom phase)
- Height 32” Footprint 5 x 5’ PAR 833umol (suggested hanging height for veg phase)
- Height 40” Footprint 6 x 6’ PAR 613umol (suggested hanging height for seedlings)
When GoGrow says the V3 light can replace a 1000W high intensity discharge light, they mean it. Combine those amazing PAR readings above with how much power you’ll burn to achieve them: only 320W. Your electric bill will be drastically lower if you switch from high pressure sodium or metal halide grow lights to this one.
But let’s back up for a moment to discuss PAR so you can see why this is light is awesome. Feel free to skip this part if you’re already familiar with the concept.

Know the PAR to choose the right intensity and coverage for your cannabis
PAR stands for photosynthetically active radiation. It describes the intensity of the light as well as what colors it emits. PAR measures light emitted in the 400nm to 700nm spectrum. That’s from blue through red and infrared. (This light has 5 infrared LEDs that will appear dimmer than the others, and that’s normal since humans don’t see infrared.)
The higher the PAR number, the more useful the light is for growing. Most manufacturers will give a specification about the area their light covers, like “2.5 feet by 3 feet at a height of 18 inches.” Of course, there’s more to selecting a light that just confirming the recommended coverage area. You have to consider the whole lifespan of the plant, from seed or clone, to veg, to flowering, to harvest.
When you’re sprouting seeds, you don’t need intense lighting. But when you’re flowering, you do. A light that might be bright enough when hung two feet above your clones might not cover enough area with enough light even when lowered down to 12 to 18-inches high for flowering. Always buy your panel based on how many plants you want to cover for bloom.
In the case of the GoGrow V3, you can blast 4 feet by 4 feet with 1113umol PAR if the light is hung 2 feet above the canopy of your cannabis. That’s 12 adult-size plants. This broad-spectrum, very bright light will make your weed thrive.
Other benefits of the GoGrow V3 Master Grower light
Since it’s an LED light, there are many other benefits besides its PAR. The V3 doesn’t need ballast to keep it from flickering or a reflector hood that takes up space. It runs cooler than an HID lamp which means less worry about high temperatures. Lower temps means less watering and less ventilation is needed.
You won’t need to replace bulbs for years since they have a lifespan measures in tens of thousands of hours. And we mentioned that this light only consumes 320W so it’s easy on your electric bill and easier to keep your operation quiet. GoGrow says they specifically designed the V3 for all stages of a cannabis plant’s growth cycle, from seed to bud.
Unlike some grow lights, the V3 doesn’t have switches to activate more light, or less. You don’t need to spend time learning how to use it or debating when to turn on each stage. Just plug it in, set the timer, and take care of your weed.
What comes in the box, plus other important specs
GoGrow includes a power cord, two carabiners, and two ratchet rope hangers. The V3 light only weighs 18 pounds so it’s not much of a hassle to hang. It measures 24 inches long by 11 inches wide by 3.5 inches thick.
The light can accept a wide range of voltage from 85 to 265V AC, so it’s suitable for use anywhere in the world. You’ll need to request an international plug if you plan to use the light overseas, but it’s not a problem since GoGrow distributes their products on various continents.
One important thing to note: the V3 light cannot be daisy-chained. GoGrow says that daisy-chaining isn’t a safe way to operate lights.
Another note on safety: it’s smart to wear eye protection when using a LED light panel with IR and UV bulbs. These wavelengths can damage your eyes. Plus, the purple cast of the visible light makes it difficult to check the plants’ health. Invest in a pair of grow room glasses that shield your eyes and put things back to their true color. GoGrow recommends Method Seven LED Grow Room Glasses and we second that recommendation. They are good enough that you can read a pH test strip under a grow light while wearing them.
If there is a problem, the V3 has a modular design that makes it easy to replace a single cluster of its 3W Epiled LEDs. GoGrow offers a 3-year warranty with free shipping for service.
The GoGrow V3 Master Grower is an impressive grow light with strong PAR readings and good design. It’s ideal for growing marijuana indoors. We hope this review helped you come another step closer to a healthy harvest. Happy growing!
