Choosing the right grow light for a new marijuana growing project isn’t always easy; there are just so many things you need and things you want to consider when making a new purchase. So before you go out and buy your first grow lights you want to think about the lamp you need, as this can make the difference between success and failure. Hopefully this guide towards T5 grow lights can help shed a little insight.
What Are T5 Grow Lights?
These refer to a style of fluorescent lamps that are efficient for growing plants. Some growers prefer these conventional grow lamps for optimal marijuana growth. So let’s look at these 4 different lamps that I think meet a small grower’s needs.
Table of Contents
Hydro Crunch 4ft T5 Grow Light
The Hydro Crunch offers 4×4 foot coverage with a 54W output per bulb. It allows for a daisy chain installation that allows you to hang it at different levels for the different growth stages of the plants. This lamp configuration offers a 95% reflective frame which intensifies the light output and works on 120v of power. The lamp comes with a built in hanging wire which allows for easy setup, pretty much a plug and go type of operation. There are also 2 switches to control 4 of the eight lamps. This allows you to control the light intensity for growth level.
DuroLux DL844s 4ft T5 Grow Light
This is a 4 foot lamp that offers 54W per bulb. Affordably priced, this is another T5 that I’m willing to recommend because it allows for different hanging options and certain flexibility when it comes to lumen output, which is what you need to grow marijuana at its different stages. There is a nice one year warranty on the frame and at about $* you can’t get much better than this.
The maximum light output is 20,000 lumens and the frame has a 95% reflective system that allows for 30% more light than other lighting systems of the T5 category. The system is made so that you can safely power up to 5 fixtures from a single outlet, and you can turn two bulbs on at a time with the fixture switch.
This is a plug and go setup which is nice and works well with a marijuana indoor setup. However, to get the maximum benefit here you want to place the fixture as close to the plant as you possibly can. This is possible because fluorescent fixtures don’t let off enough heat to cause damage to the plants.
The 2×4 fixtures work for smaller plant growth areas, so I’ve included a review of two additional lamp fixtures that can work with your indoor garden.
EnviroGro 2Ft, 4-Tube Grow Lamp Fixture, T5 Bulbs Included
This EnviroGro lamp offers about an 8,000 Lumen output. Of course I wouldn’t expect to get the full 8,000 Lumen but it comes pretty close. The powder coated steel frame is sturdy and hangs in three different ways, overhead, horizontal and vertical. This Hydrofarm lamp offer a lot of lumen, and it’s flexible which is what you need for those tall plants.
Milliard 2-Ft/6-Bulb T5 Grow Light System
The milliard is made to work with the Milliard grow tent, but it works with most grow tents as well. However you have to install the holding chains. The bulbs are made to simulate natural sunlight and all eight bulbs offer 12,000 lumens at 144Watts. This means you can grow your marijuana plants very cheaply. This offers a great beginning for your indoor greenhouse. Each bulb offers 6500K and simulates natural light as if it comes through a window. The lamp system offers 12000 lumens at only 144 watts.
T5 Designer 4Ft 8 Tube Fixture w/Bulbs-FLP48
This is another Hydrofarms unit, but hey what can I say; I like this manufacturer. This T5 designer system is a 2 foot reaching system that offers high lumen output which is needed for all stages of your cannabis. It comes with a daisy chain system that allows you to change the configuration of the hanging method. In other words you can hang it vertically, horizontally or overhead. The design is strong as it is a German made aluminum with a high energy efficient output that lets you save on your energy bills. This smaller system comes with 6 bulbs at 6400K.
